Independence Elementary opened it's doors in 2010 as a 4th and 5th grade center with approximately 600 students. Before attending IES, students attend one of the lower PreK - 3rd grade feeder schools: Parkland, Surrey Hills, Myers, Central, Ranchwood, Skyview or Shedeck Elementary. IES is comprised of six general education pods where students travel between two teachers- one focused on ELA/Social Studies one focused on math and science. IES offers specials courses for all students in music, art, physical education and STEM. IES teachers meet collaboratively each week in PLC's with the mission of success for all students.
